What happens during the visit
We start with a conversation and a look at your ears. I mark the spots and show them to you in the mirror so everything is agreed before anything happens – symmetry has to be right at this stage, not later.
The piercing itself takes a moment. Then we go through aftercare step by step, and I write down the key points so you don’t have to remember everything in the excitement.
Ear piercing for children
You and your child decide when – I never persuade or rush anyone. Ideally your child knows why they are coming and is well rested and fed. Don’t promise they “won’t feel a thing”; it is better to say it only takes a second and mum or dad will be right there.
With children, a calm atmosphere matters most to me: we take time to talk before anything happens, and your child is allowed to say “not today”.
Aftercare
- don’t touch your ears with unwashed hands – it is the most common cause of problems,
- clean the piercing exactly as we agree at the end of the visit, without over-disinfecting,
- no swimming pool, sauna or long baths for the first few days,
- don’t change the first studs earlier than agreed – usually after about 6 weeks.
Slight redness in the first few days is normal. Increasing pain, swelling, discharge or a fever are a sign to see a doctor – and to let me know.
